About Me

courtesy of Chloe Jakiela

My name is Alexander Popichak and I’m a journalist, editor, producer and ten thousand other things.

I’m currently a broadcast production and media management major with a journalism minor at Point Park University in Pittsburgh and serve as Editor-in-Chief for the on campus newspaper, the Point Park Globe. I am the proud creator/host/producer of WPPJ‘s On the Horizon, a current events-based variety talk show and serve on the staff of WPPJ. I am also a co-executive producer for U-View Television’s Point Park NewsNight, a news show that delves into topics through long form audiovisual pieces in a nightly news-style live-to-tape production.

I’m currently a newsroom production assistant at 90.5 WESA, Pittsburgh’s NPR Station. I work part-time during the school year at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a high school sports stringer. In 2016, I was an editorial intern at the aggregate trending news website run by Trib Total Media’s affiliate 535media¬†upgruv. Think localized buzzfeed and you’re halfway there.

My photographic and journalistic work has been published with the Point Park Globe, U-View, WESA, upgruv, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Trib Total Media’s Signal Item and IN Community Magazines. If you’re interested in my full credentials, visit the “contact/resume” page.

Feel free to look around! Consider this website my portfolio that’s (mostly) up to date – my favorite work is here.
